What I Like About Coaching

I have a strong passion for skating which is reflected in my coaching style. I like to work with skaters to develop their strengths and improve their weaknesses to become the most well rounded athlete possible and at the same time accomplish goals and to always make improvements both in skating and in life. I strive to develop all the aspects of skating and inspire a passion for the sport to all of my students with the pursuit of excellence and an avoidance of mediocrity. My greatest enjoyment from coaching comes from working with competitive skaters that work hard and strive to become the best athletes that they can be.

I love to teach jumps, spins, field moves, and ice dancing, and also love to do choreography (especially footwork).

Something About Myself

Skating is my passion and it is my goal to be the best coach that I can be. To ensure that I am always improving as a coach, I am continuing to further my education in figure skating by taking PSA ratings exams; attending PSA conferences and seminars and USFS training camps; learning about the ISU judging system; and working with National, World, and Olympic Level coaches.

I was originally inspired to start skating by watching speed skaters at the Colorado Springs World Arena because it looked fun. Soon after that, I started in the “Learn to Skate” group classes at the Hyland Hills ice arena in Westminster, Colorado. I decided to stay with figure skating because I liked to jump and spin and I could still go really fast like a speed skater. After a few years, I began taking private lessons so I could skate in competitions. I went from no test level to Intermediate freestyle level in less than a year. Skating has been a big part of my life and I hope that it will continue to be for a very long time.
